Two men were arrested by the Parkview police for malicious damage to property after they caught an app-based taxi to their residence in Dunkeld.
Spokesperson for the Parkview Police Station Captain Tintswalo Sibeko said that on 13 October at 3.30am the complainant, a Taxify driver, was at work when two men requested an app-based taxi from Jeppestown (Maboneng) to Dunkeld West.
“The victim agreed to transport them to their residence. When they arrived at their destination in Dunkeld West, the driver asked them to pay and one man said he had already paid,” said Sibeko.
Sibeko explained that an argument ensued and the men tried to take the keys and started to jump on the bonnet and damaged both side mirrors of the vehicle before going inside their residence. “The driver called Parkview Saps for assistance and both suspects were arrested.”
The suspects appeared on 15 October in the Hillbrow Magistrates’ Court on charges of malicious damage to property.
