Rosebank police are still on the lookout for a bogus doctor who goes by the name of Dr Mudau and claims to be a medical doctor for Netcare hospitals in Gauteng.
The bogus doctor makes appointments with job seekers inside Netcare hospital cafes, promising them a part-time secretarial position at the hospital. He then tells them to hand over their cell phones and laptops so that the human resources department can install software but instead steals their possessions.
The spokesperson for the Rosebank Police Station Sergeant Bongi Mdletshe said the man looked professional and wore spectacles and a stethoscope.
Netcare informed Rosebank Killarney Gazette in June that their security personnel have been alerted about this problem.
Another woman almost fell victim to his scam at Netcare Unitas Hospital in Centurion when she was also offered a job at the hospital, but became suspicious of the man when he asked her to hand over her cell phone and laptop and decided to leave.
The woman, who spoke to this publication, said she had met the doctor online after seeing an advert that he would help people with jobs at the hospital.
Mdletshe said, “If anyone has met him or spotted him, they should contact the Rosebank Police Station to assist in the case. There have been a number of these cases across Netcare hospitals in Gauteng.”
