You can check your municipal account online

The City of Johannesburg’s e-Services site has been changed, according to MMC for Finance DR Rabelani Dagada, in an effort to improve the online experience for ratepayers.

The City is in the process of implementing a flexible and agile site, he said, offering a stable platform with improved general functionality and a user-friendly search capability. The new site, which can be reached at www.eservices.joburg.org.za, features various links to frequently asked questions and how to use the site and even takes residents to the progress of their building plan applications.

Residents can register and receive their municipal accounts online. Residents can also fill in an online valuation form to assist the City’s valuation of a property. The meter-reading schedule can also be accessed.

The website additionally features information about the City’s bylaws, tariffs, traffic fines and how to log a query.

If residents log a query through the e-Services website, they are able to keep track of its progress.

Dagada, who is also responsible for overseeing the City’s Information Technology Department and Strategy, said the site has a secure login and account management system for checking municipal statements. “The new look is the first phase in the City’s e-services channel management, with the intention of extending functionality to payment portals and online query logging in the near future,” he said.
