The Cupcakes of Hope initiative raises money for children suffering from cancer by selling cupcakes at various events throughout the year.
The cupcakes were donated to St Teresa’s by the Tsogo Sun team as a part of their corporate social investment (CSI) project. The cupcakes were then sold to the schoolchildren and teachers, with the money being donated to Cupcakes of Hope.
Debbie de Koning, the marketing manager for St Teresa’s said she was approached by the Tsogo Sun team and was more than happy to get involved with the initiative. “All the cupcakes sold out,” she said. “We managed to raise R6 400 for the Cupcakes of Hope.”
The school also hosted a raffle, with the prize being a cake also donated by Tsogo Sun. Regina O’Sullivan, in Grade 9, won the lucky draw.
Letaria Pillay of Tsogo Sun, said, “Tsogo Sun does three CSI’s a year and we do it as a node, so it’s Hyde Park, 54 on Bath and the Crowne Plaza, so we joined together and decided to do this as our CSI project.
“We chose do work with St Teresa’s because it’s conveniently down the road [from the Crowne Plaza] and we know St Teresa’s does a lot of CSI during the year as well so we thought it would work well.”
