Rosebank Police Station looks brand new thanks to the Rosebank CPF

Rosebank Police Station recently received a new lease on life thanks to the Rosebank Community Policing Forum who paid for a new coat of paint.

The police station had made a request to the forum to repaint the exterior walls of the station as the paint was peeling in several places and some of the walls had been damaged because of a lack of proper waterproofing.

The repainting cost more than R21 000, however, the Saxonwold and Parkwood Residents’ Association also contributed funds to the forum to allow them to afford the cost of the painting.

Costa Qually, the chairman of the forum, said the association had contributed R5 000 last year and an additional R10 000 this year to go towards the painting of the station.

“It’s the exterior of about two houses so it’s an expensive exercise unfortunately but it’s spruced it up a little bit. The station is now looking nice from the outside but in the longer term we’re looking at getting a new station,” said Qually.

Captain Gerald Steyn from the station said, “Now with summer coming, the station looks beautiful now that it’s nice and painted.”

Sergeant Bongi Mdletshe, the spokesperson for the station, emphasised the importance of the partnership between the station and the forum.

“When we’re going to work it looks beautiful and we’re excited to go to work,” said Mdletshe.

Qually added that the repainting of the station helped it to fit in with the increasingly upmarket appearance of the Rosebank precinct.
