Restaurant Week delights foodies

The increasingly popular Restaurant Week South Africa began four years ago and will now run from 20 to 30 April, which will feature over 100 top restaurants from all over South Africa.

Marcelle Mudde, the brand manager for Restaurant Week said, “Restaurant Week is an international culinary event that started in the late 1990s. It’s been organised around the globe, and we have organised it since 2013 in South Africa.”

In Johannesburg, 32 top restaurants will be participating. The purpose of Restaurant Week is to allow food lovers an opportunity to experience amazing restaurants at a fraction of the price. A set price of R150 for a two-course lunch and R250 for a three-course dinner is charged at every restaurant participating.

”Lots of people, like myself, can name one or two restaurants they really like to dine at but never had the chance – this can be a new restaurant, an established restaurant or a restaurant that’s usually too expensive,” said Mudde.

“Restaurant Week basically is a great excuse to visit that restaurant that has always been on your list, without taking a huge chunk of your salary.”

Some brilliant, local restaurants that will be featured include So Yum in Hyde Park, OneNINEOne at the Hyatt Regency in Rosebank, Clico, at the Clico Boutique Hotel in Rosebank, KCC– La Vie en Rose at the Killarney Country Club and The View in Saxonwold.

Each restaurant offers its own unique take on food and provides a world-class dining experience for a more affordable price. Last year, oneNINEone was voted the best restaurant during Restaurant Week.

“We ask all diners to review and rate their experience on our website, the restaurant with the highest overall rating scoops the award. Apart from this overall winner, we name the best restaurant in each region, also based on guest ratings,” said Mudde.
